It is a revival design based on a Venetian type Torresanus 83R, which is derived from Jenson's Roman in 1484. The project was about balancing the closeness to original appearances and usage as a digital, text typeface.
There is an additional stylistic set of characters in Opentype features, so that one set could fit better for typesetting body texts, while another follows more truly the letterforms in the sources.
We referred to magnified images of types provided by Michele Patane and Riccardo Olocco.
